Run an inspection

Here is how to run an inspection, and what happens to anything it finds.

Step by step

1. Open Inspections and tap Start inspection. Pick the unit and the checklist for it.
2. Go through each check: Pass, or how serious it is: monitor, repair soon, restricted, or out of service.
3. Anything that is not a pass needs a note. Say exactly what you found.
4. Confirm you did the inspection, and tap Submit inspection. Each finding becomes a defect on the unit's record.
5. A manager decides each defect: Create repair request to get it fixed, or Defer it with a reason, a restriction and a date to review it.

Good to know

• Deferred is not forgotten. Deferred defects sit in the Maintenance Debt Ledger until they are fixed or reviewed.
• Who can inspect. Drivers and operators, technicians and managers. Parts, approvers, accounting, finance and view-only access cannot.
